by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade on
Thursday.

LAHORE (February 05 2010): Chief Minister
Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that
without impartial judiciary, investment is
not possible in any country of the world. He
also said that lower judiciary and police
have failed to come up with the expectations
of the people.
He asked them to improve their performance
otherwise the people of Punjab will question
him as to why he has raised their pays. He
was addressing the inaugural session of the
Punjab Investment Conference 2010 organised
by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade on
Thursday.
On this occasion, 3 MoU signing ceremonies
were held between the Turk and Pakistani
companies, one between the Dogus Machine
Industry and MRF group of worth 25 million
dollars in the field of making modern
slaughter houses in Punjab, while the two
other MoUs were of Dogus International with
2 Pakistani companies Syed Traders and
Abedin International of 15 million dollars
with each of the companies in the field of
developing modern slaughter houses and
providing technical know how to the local
industry.
Punjab CM said both provincial and federal
governments are committed for rooting out
the menace of terrorism. He also said that
there is no investment without peace. He
said that first of all, local investment
should be encouraged, than expatriates
should invest in the country and on the
third stage, foreign investment will come in
the country. He said that Pakistan needs
long term strategy to build its sectors. He
said that there is a huge potential of
investment in the field of agriculture,
livestock and education in Punjab.
While addressing the audience, Chief
Minister said services sector is important
but we should focus on the industry because
it will create more jobs for the youth. He
also said his government is focusing on
imparting technical education to the youth
and for this purpose, the Technical and
Vocational Authority is working as an
autonomous body. We should focus on
enhancing our trade with countries such as
Indonesia, Iran and Turkey, he added. He
said India was importing beef of worth
millions of dollars from Indonesia.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President and
CEO of PBIT Pir Saad Ahsanuddin said that
there is a tremendous potential of business
in Punjab and the board has an excellent
team of private sector experts as well as
technocrats to assist the investors.
He further said that the PBIT welcomes
investors' business interests in Punjab and
we are operating under one window operation
and according to the directives of Chief
Minister Punjab and the Federal Board of
Investment. The session was also addressed
by Chief Operating Officer PBIT Fazal Abbas
Maken, Dean School of Humanities and Social
Sciences Lums, Chairman Habib Group Ali.S.
Habib and CEO BMA capital Mozzam Malik.
