Election schedule for farmer bodies, water councils announced



RECORDER REPORT
FAISALABAD (February 07 2010): Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Authority (Pida) has announced the election schedule of 85 farmer organisations and 3874 khaal panchayat (water channel councils). According to the Chief Executive Water Board Lower Chanab Canal (East Circle) Riaz Rasheed.
The election process would be conducted in all the 7 districts of the region including Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh. He further told that the incumbent representatives of the Pida's farmer bodies had completed their 3-year tenures and the newly elected people would perform their duties for the next 3 years. According to the schedule, the process of preparation and publication of preliminary voter lists will be completed by February 9.
These preliminary lists would be made public by 10-19 February. After that, objections would be received on these lists and would be finalised by February 26. Furthermore, final voter lists would be published by February 28 and elections of khaal punchiat and farmers organisations would be completed by April 20.
