KARACHI: The 5th edition of Expo Pakistan is
scheduled to be held from February 26 to 28,
2010, at the Karachi Expo Center. According
to the Trade Development Authority of
Pakistan (TDAP), the organizers of this mega
event, said that it is blossoming into a
permanent feature on the calendar of
international trade events of the region
after the success of last four exhibitions.
Expo Pakistan provides an excellent
opportunity to participating exhibitors to
display the whole range of products Pakistan
has to offer.
This year some foreign companies are also
participating in the Expo Pakistan which
shows that the event has gained a favorable
reputation abroad. It is hoped that Expo
Pakistan shall bring together numerous
quality buyers from different parts of the
world in a quest to reach out to the
prospective local suppliers. International
participants at the exhibition will also
develop new partnership and deepen existing
ones, for the benefit of all stake-holders.
This will also help in attracting foreign
direct investment in the country. This year,
more than 300 exhibition stalls of various
size would be seen at the Expo Pakistan,
covering a total exhibit space of nearly
6000 square meters. TDAP said that a large
number of foreign buyers are expected to
show up at the mega show. An estimate of the
orders negotiated last year at the Expo
Pakistan is $ 50 million, which is not
insignificant as a large number of follow up
orders are not reported to TDAP. Besides
exhibit stalls, B2B meetings would be
facilitated by provision of specific meeting
cubicles prepared for this purpose. Fashion
shows have also been planned on the first
two days of the Expo, displaying Pakistani
products including handicrafts, garments,
jewellery, leather shoes and other leather
products. The fashions shows are scheduled
at 4:00 to 6:00 pm and entry is by
invitation only. The visiting hours for the
Expo shall be 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day.
For the first two days of the Expo, entrance
to the exhibition halls besides by
invitation, shall be on purchase of tickets
@Rs.400/= per person. The last day of the
Expo has been declared a Family Day, when
the entrance tickets shall be Rs.200/= per
person, but children under 12 will not be
allowed. Each person buying the tickets to
enter the Expo shall be required to show
their original NIC. Exhibitors will be
allowed to do spot selling on the last
day.—Agency
