UVAS conducts online exam

LAHORE :  University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) has claimed to be the first ever public sector university of the country to introduce online examination system. According to a press statement issued here Friday, the mid-term exam for Winter Semester 2009 was successfully conducted from December 7 to 14. Despite very limited IT resources, about 2,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students from 7 degree programmes undertook the exams both at the varsity’s City and Ravi Campus Pattoki without any major problem.


EDB finalises road map for standardisation of agriculture implements
ISLAMABAD (March 13 2010): The Engineering Development Board (EDB) here on Friday finalised a road map for standardisation of agricultural implements to boost agri-production in the country. Draft PC-I prepared by Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) was examined in a meeting, which also reviewed the progress of various sub-committees.

The meeting decided to include cost of implements and development of identified implements in consultation with representatives of EDB, Farms Machinery Institute (FMI), Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Agricultural Machinery Research Institute (AMRI).

It noted that introduction of farm mechanisation and development of efficient well-designed agricultural implements would boost agricultural system of the country. The CEO EDB informed that the committee had earlier identified 15 agricultural implements for development and standardisation in consultation and active participation of stakeholder of agriculture sector including farmers and manufacturers. TUSDEC will produce complete engineering drawings on Computer Aided Design system (CAD) and Computer Aided Analysis (CAA) for identified agricultural implements.

It will also arrange the dies, inspection jigs and fixtures for the development of implements in order to ensure production of uniform quality and standardised agricultural implements throughout the country. The standardised working drawings will be made available to the selected manufacturers of farms machines and implements, the meeting decided. Various proposals including material bank, common facilities centres, easy loans to manufacturers & farmers and provision of costly implements to small farmers on rental basis was also discussed.
